Cat Naps
I take a nap every single day. What? A nap. Every day? There is no way I’d have time for that, and my boss would be upset if she/he caught me napping, you might be thinking. But I’m here to tell you that you do have time and when you explain how it works, your boss will likely approve and try it for her/himself, especially since it’ll make everyone more productive. This is how it works. Right after lunch when you feel yourself slipping into that food coma stage, go lie down somewhere. It can be on the floor, on a bed, or on a couch. The important thing is that you lie on your back so you’ll hear yourself snore. If it’s hard for you to relax right away read a book for a page or two. Not social media! As soon as you notice that you’re beginning to relax, put the book down and close your eyes. Shortly after you drift off, you may wake up just enough to notice that you were snoring. Done. That’s it. You don’t need more than that. It’s like a computer restart. I nap for about two to seven minutes, usually about two. The whole process, reading and nap shouldn’t take more than eight to twelve minutes. If you don’t snore or think that you won’t wake up, set your alarm or a timer. It’s incredible actually. I’m never tired in the afternoons, and never lose focus because I’m sleepy. The trick is not to nap for too long, it’s just a little cat nap, or as we say in Sweden, en tupplur, a rooster nap.
