Eating on the banks of the Delaware
Lambertville and New Hope are two picturesque little river towns on the Delaware. One on each side of the river in two states.
My favorite restaurant is in Lambertville on the New Jersey side. Marhaba, an Egyptian eatery serving Middle Eastern food.
Their dishes are mouthwatering! Mostly vegetarian, a big plus for me who is often left with one or two choices at non-vegetarian restaurants.
Unless I choose one of the many salad options of course, vegetarians are often assumed to live on only vegetables!
Not so here. They have stuffed grape leaves, hummus, fava bean dip, lentils, babagannough, falafel, pizzas and more.
I tried the fava bean dip for the first time this week and it’s outstanding. Spicy and rich. It goes very well with their home-made right out of the oven pita. The babagannough is smooth and flavorful with just the hint of the right kind of bitter. So good!
I had an incredible halwa with labne for dessert. Labne is like Greek strained yoghurt and it pairs perfectly with the intensity of the halwa.
